| The Annapurna Base Camp trekking route is also known as the Annapurna sanctuary trek. The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) is surrounded by ring of mountain, the Annapurna range, most of which are over 7000meters the entrance of Annapurna sanctuary is through the only one george made by the Modi Khola between Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre. The sanctuary get only 7 hours sun even in summer days. The unique combination of heights and depths in the Annapurna sanctuary give rise to an extraordinary variety of ecosystem. The south facing slope of the sanctuary is covered with dense of tropical jungle of rhododendron and bamboo, in other hand, dry rain shadow area with colder climate similar to the Tibetan plateau, in the north. The sanctuary is known as the sacred land of the Gurung people, who were the only people to inhabit this area in the past. |
